Hey there,
I just wrapped up one of the best conversations I’ve had in months, and I couldn’t wait to share it with you.
My latest podcast episode features Taylin Simmonds. He’s a creator who I’ve admired for a long time. I love his content and the way he approaches problems. But his isn’t a typical success story. He talks about his journey from eating lemons for dinner, to being a teacher and eventually building a thriving 6-figure business and life of freedom as a ghostwriter and consultant.
But Taylin doesn’t just share tactics. Our conversation went a lot deeper, challenging the fundamental beliefs that might be keeping you stuck right now.
Here’s a few big ideas Taylin tackles:
Faith Before Proof
Most of us wait for evidence before believing something is possible. But Taylin argues that the opposite is true. He chose to believe in possibilities he hadn’t yet experienced, and that belief became the foundation of his success.
That was an important reminder for me that sometimes we need faith before we’ll ever see proof, and we dive into how to develop that kind of faith as well.
A Fresh Take on Niching
If you’re tired about all of the conflicting advice about niching, you definitely need to hear Taylin’s take on the three different niches that exist:
Skills-based niching (for specialists)
Way of life niching (for polymaths)
Mission-based niching (for visionaries)
This framework alone resolved a LOT of questions I’ve been wrestling with.
The Psychology of Transformation
It’s often an internal roadblock, not an external obstacle that keeps us from achieving success. We dive deep into why changing your core beliefs is so difficult, and also why it’s so essential to change them if needed. As Taylin puts it,
“Most of the beliefs we defend weren’t consciously chosen.”
Because playing the inner game leads to external rewards.
Algorithms vs. Networks
Not all platforms work the same way. Understanding the difference between algorithm-driven platforms (YouTube, TikTok) and network-driven platforms (X, LinkedIn) might change how you approach your content strategy.

If you’re feeling stuck in your creative journey or business growth, I think you’ll get a lot out of this conversation. I know that I did. Taylin’s approach to genuine care over “high leverage” tactics is really refreshing in a world obsessed with optimization.
I hope you give it a listen. And if you do, let me know what you think.
A massive shoutout again to Taylin for coming on the pod. Make sure to follow Taylin on Substack, and check out his latest Youtube video on how to make money as a writer online.
Can’t wait to hear your thoughts!
Jarrich ~
